Lost

I listen to the waves roll and think of our time together. I think of the way your arms once encircled me like a protective cage as I slept peacefully in the afternoon sunlight. I think of the way we could always be so quiet around each other, yet still know what the other was thinking. I think of how you loved to read with me, curled tightly together on our sofa for one. I think of all the joy we shared so there was no room for sorrow. I think of how there is no way to regain that happiness without you here by my side. I think of how you said you'll always be here with me if you ever left this cruel world. I think of the sorrow I felt when you were taken from me. Then I hear the waves roll, and again I think of our time together.
