The Lord's Black Curtain

Have you ever seen the Black Curtain?

I have.

Just like the Lord’s Black Curtain,

mine is monstrous.

It obstructs my vision,

puts me to sleep,

and takes control of my body.

The Black Curtain is my demon.

He began possessing my body

and I fear the day when I’ll fall asleep

and never awake again.

But this time I did.

When I woke,

I was surrounded

by metal, fire

and the bodies.

No matter how hard I try,

I can’t forget the sight them.

Some with bodies folded backwards,

Some had heads twisted too far to the side,

Others had blood running from

Their eyes, nose, and mouth.

And the tears fell from my face

Tears that were like drops of acid rain.

But in the end they meant nothing.

The only thing that matters

is how I failed to protect

them from my Black Curtain.
