Looking Through This Mirror

Looking through this mirror of mine

I witness a woman who has experienced pain and sorrow,

A woman who has fought for survival,

And a woman who has loved.

I witness a woman who has become her own.

Brown hair cascades down her pale complexion,

Piercing hazel eyes that have seen many,

And a hidden smile that is contained by her peachy lips.

Softly she speaks,

But nothing that pertains to her emotions.

Yelling is all she could hear,

Fear is all she felt,

And the tears that were shed are no more.

Being so vulnerable and responsible was the worst of all.

The last she remembers is hearing a door slam

And a wife become a victim.

But she pushes what happened in the past away

And moves forward to the future.

And what does the future hold for this woman?

Love.

One syllable, 4 letters.

She has not only found love in another

But also within herself.

Her gate has been unlocked with endless possibilities that flood in.

Her eyes have been open to what she is to become.

Become a woman who is strong.
