The brutal whippings with sticks and stones,
even though sometimes they broke our bones.
it was all just sensless hate,
we were broken down to our lowest state.
But i reckon it was all a part of fate,
because we crept the underground railroad with Harriet to escape,
To a place where we were no longer slaves.
then came stubborn Parks who refused to change seats,
making her go down in history.
Thats when Martin Luther King had his dream,
his dream that spoke of eqaulity.
all we really wanted was to be free,
and have the same rights as the rest of the country.
