I am walking down the road with
a backpack at my side and dusty boots upon
my feet.
I carry so much more.

I carry the horrors of inhumanity,
bloodshed,
and innocence lost.

You don't see that.

All you see is an unshaven,
supposedly crazy,
insignificant waste of oxygen.

I fought for this country, and
a sideways glance is my reward.

Where is the justice?

Look beyond my exterior,
and maybe,
just maybe,
you'll see the person I once was.
