Loneliness Gone

If I could change the world

I would change its loneliness,

For I know that this

Is the world's great unhappiness.

The world is full of people

Who are depressed and lonely.

They have no one to love them

For the pleasure of it only.

That want nothing in return.

No one loves them

Just for the feeling

Of love, comforting and silken.

Many have taken their own lives

In the stillness of the night.

They had no good feelings left,

So they gave up the fight.

If only they had just had

A hand on their shoulder

Keeping them grounded,

Their hearts wouldn't smolder.

Without loneliness in our hearts

The world would overflow:

Filled to the brim with love.

The level of hate would be low.

In fact, hate might be eradicated.

Love and life would reign,

And no one would end the day

With a heart tied down by chains.
