Lone Leaf

A lone leaf

      Standing absolute

          Among brittle branches

     That rip and tear and

Try to break

                                The lone leaf

              Stands.

Sunrise and Sunset

     The leaf stands.

Wind and hail and

Rain and snow.

     The leaf stands.

The azure sky glows.

As the lone leaf stands.

                                         So many nights

                                      Spent alone

                             This lone leaf quivers.

                So many days spent apart

         This lone leaf shakes

   The claws of limbs

Grab and yank

The lone leaf cries out.

Sunset blazes on this sight.

The lone leaf sobs.

The lone leaf lets go

Floating on the gentle winds

This lone leaf has given in.
