Lollipop

Hello precious little one

Will you sing again

A duet with me

You know it makes me

So very happy

The joyful notes arching

The low notes resonating

And everything perfectly tune

But wait

no

no

no no

no no no

NO

Do not touch me

Covered as I am

In the dust and

Stench of a corpse

Lying, choking on hair

Dragging me deeper into

Despair and wishful agony

Waiting for the voice

So treasured and sweet

To sound once more

I wait pacing frantically

In ever diminishing circles

For the dream to end

For the pain to stop

For the movement to

Make things right again

But you lie there

So still and cold

Why do you leave me?

And yet you linger

A phantasm in the corner

Echoing in my ear

Taking trips down stairs

Down and up repeated

Tearing apart your shrine

Removing you from me

Away from my room

My thoughts and dreams

And yet still here?

I turn expecting you

To answer my question

To laugh at me

With me, yet again

And tears still come

Burning streaks down trails

And stinging woeful eyes

Leaving me alone with

Whispers and memories twirling

Around and around laughing

And on those breezes

Coming on your wake

Listen as you leave

To rest and heal

My parting words

'I love you'
