Locksmith

When you loved me,

You held the only key

To my heart

But,

When you left me,

You didn't just leave,

You broke that key,

And made me believe

That my heart

Was no longer obtainable.

You made me believe,

That I was locked in,

Forever.

But now,

After all of these years,

I've realized that

I had a friend

Alongside me,

A locksmith,

If you will,

That not only

Made me a new key,

But fixed me,

As well.

He opened my heart,

And let me out

Of the cages

That I built

Inside of myself.

They were meant

To protect me,

But they instead

Trapped me.

And the only way out

Was discovered by

My locksmith.

Maybe this locksmith

Will be the new

Keeper of my heart,

The one who holds

The only key.

But,

What if

My locksmith leaves too.

Who will fix me,

If he breaks me?

Who will make

My heart

Obtainable again?
