A Living Legend
I see the world through black and white,
Like newspapers that now seem to age.
Technology slowly dims the average book light,
And most forget the first stage, from where it all came.
I hear poems dictated by superiors and chiefs,
Even the homeless man who lives on the street.
I watch the radiant youth who sings beside me-
She does not realize it is poetry.
A poem is what makes the heart grow
While the body it lives in is still a child.
It is the original world in all beauty
That makes one crave the wild.
Those with courage will always know-
Know that faith in blank pages
Will give birth to a new adventure,
Honesty in words is honesty in dreams
And the world will be your motion picture.
You see, life changes too quickly.
I write it down and it is mine
Every memory bears a lifetime.
And then I let it be.
Poetry is a constant that puts me at ease,
When everyone else is running- I sit still-
To enjoy peace of mind and just feel.
