Living in Dreams

Stranded on an island,

With nowhere to go.

No one to hold me,

No one to know,

How I feel and what I need.

I’m stranded on an island

Until we meet.

My screams and cries lost in the wind

I’m powerless with words

I cannot be seen.

Being alone, all by myself,

Is better than being surrounded in hell.

I count the stars that gleam in the sky,

I gaze upon them and wonder why,

Alone and distant in space

Manage to shine and light my face.

They send me a message from where they are,

Reminding me that you love me

And that they care.

The moon smiles upon me and welcomes me with grace

Asking me to join him out in space.

It’s dark out there and problems are far away

All bridges are burned, no reason to stay.

Earth is but a home to terror and fear

But I must stay with the ones I hold dear

I argue with the moon for hours to come

He says I have no place beneath the sun

Home is with the stars that shine through darkness

That brighten the lives of many others

He tells me my tears will turn to rivers

That from space no one matters.

The ones who made you cry and shed wasted tears

Are barely visible from up here.

He tells me up here that dreams come true

So up here is where I will wait for you.
