My voice won’t speak the words.

I can't say these five words.

“I recused you that day”

No sound comes out.

Each day I try to speak.

I falter, I fail.

I remember gazing into your sky blue eyes.

I heard the sounds of the ocean waves.

I smelled the salty sea air.

I felt the cool breeze wrapping around me.

But I can’t speak.

I can’t say, “I rescued you that day”

Five words that might change everything.

Why is it so hard to say them?

Is it because they might change everything?

Maybe it is the meaning?

Maybe it is the fact it is life changing?

Maybe this is the reason my voice fails me.
