The Little Girl

little girl born on a cold winter day
as she cries for the warmth of her mother
that soft embrace that she longs for
her mothers arms are where she feels safe
her mothers arms are will she shall stay

one place a little girl feels safe
is her mothers embrace
as the little girl grows
her mother grows far away
far away for the girls reach

a mothers love, her warmth
is the little girls strength
the girl lives, dreams, and plays
with her mothers love while it lasts

with age coming rapidly
the mother draws from the child
the little girl is left
left in loneness
heart broken
lost in the dark
though still wanting that love that stops coming
still wanting to be told that she is loved
still to wants to be held in an embrace

the little girl no longer little
but in her own sorrow
that soon swallows her whole
that makes the little girl into a dark place of unloved

no more strength she has
no longer does she feel loved
no longer feels the warmth
lost that girl is
lost she shall live
