Light in the dark

This year I was awakened

Not to myself

But shaken

Witnessing tragedies of the world

Family members passing away

Leaving empty

Old friends gone astray

Nothing seems to stay the same

And the world around increasingly cruel

Little Victoria

Never to return to school

Killed by her own mother

Far too easy to see only evil

Must be more

Then it’s clear

Hope, Grace, Love

Light bursting from the dark

Support

A spark

Tears, Laughter, Love

In the words of Walt,

“you are here-

that life exists and identity,

That the powerful play goes on,

and you may contribute a verse”

Each person is called

Get up and go

Bring light to all

I now know every person can be a little change
