Light

In this life, when reality threatens,

We search for an escape

As oblivion beckons.

But when we take a step away,

Lift up our heads and

Forget what people say,

Past the turmoil of tears and screams,

We find hiding 'neath the surface

Our most precious dreams.

Despite the life that tries to crush them,

To kill the light

And the hopes that blossom,

Our delirious delusions

Will not be subdued,

Prepetuating the illusion

That someday we'll rise anew.

Do not be fooled by their glowing appearance,

Their rosy haze

And perseverance,

Do not mistake their stubborn persistence

For confirmation of

A future reality's existence.

But ponder, if you will,

The power they hold--

The hope that they instill,

The purpose they uphold--

For without these dreams,

Your hopes may yet be crushed

Lost amid the screams

That you are not enough.

But with their assurance lying beneath your skin,

The warmth in your heart

Sparking a fire within,

Incredible things seem within your command--

Leading you on,

Guiding your hand,

And now you see at last so clear,

That the power you needed

To overcome your fear

Is waiting within your simple control--

Warming your heart,

Igniting your soul.
