Leader Stuck Inside a Follower

Location

They say, don’t hide behind yourself

But they don’t realize they never give me a chance

I want to scream and shout

But all I get is shut out

All you see is the quiet girl who does well

She smiles but continues to walk down the hall

You’ve never seen her true eyes

Or the way she feels on the inside

My anxiety and struggles and problems

Cause me to be a leader stuck inside a follower

Once in a while I force myself to peek out of the curtain

Then I remember others can see me and resort behind the fabric

I hope one day I can show who I really am

Speak up, speak loud, never scared

Show who’s really behind the curtain

And stuck inside the body of a girl who’s scared to show it
