Last Chance

We had our problems,
You and I.
But happiness was our magnet.
Although there was pain,
Love kept us running back for more.
Don't miss your last chance.

Respect was absent
With you blinded to the truth:
That gazing, laughing, talking, touching
Constituted flirting.
Those men weren't me.
Don't miss your last chance

And then the fight
That wrecked it all.
I remember the pain,
As you clutched onto innocence
Like a thief claims what isn't theirs.
Don't miss your last chance.

You claimed self-sabotage.
You made me think I was the fool,
And in a way, I was.
But no responsibility did you claim,
I was the cause, you said, me and my wall.
Don't miss your last chance.

I opened up, I let you in,
I gave you the map to my heart.
But you took the knife
You carry around your neck
And used it to hit the 'X'.
Don't miss your last chance.

And now there's someone new.
Someone not you
Beginning to fill the vacancy in my heart.
But still I begin to wonder
All the things that could have been.
Don't miss your last chance.

You slandered my name,
Lied me into a monster,
Dragged me through the mud.
And now you expect me to come back
When you send me flirty texts.

It's already gone.
You missed our last chance.
