Lab Monkey (part two)

Daily I could hear the noise from outside

Chanting and calling out

Until one day they came

At first I was afraid

From the crashing and blacked out faces

Yet they broke me free

Held me tight

For once I felt comfort & security

He whispered softly

‘you’re safe now, little one’

Alongside a few others like me

I began recovery

These humans wept once they saw me

At the veterinary hospital facility

Until I felt restored

Taken to a new home

A monkey sanctuary

Where all my needs were met

Feels like paradise is restored

Once again to be able to do what comes naturally

Sometimes people come to visit me

To work on my skills

So I can go back overseas to my reserve

Away from people

Wild and free

But just need the public onboard

To support others like me

In whatever way you can

Protect those who cannot speak

In this world of darkness

be the shinning light

And take a stand for animal rights!
