The Kraken

Long ago and far faded,

into the abyss,

dust of Norse culture,

the Kraken still lives.

The far fetched horror,

shed its slimy shield,

for metal hull,

and explosive yield.

Upon them now,

no chance to flee,

came the new legend,

U-boat stalking undersea.

The merchant crew were unaware,

as hostile booms punctured midnight air,

doomed engineers turned to face,

the stabbing cold embrace.

As the civil transport's armor gave way,

to the frigid North Atlantic grave.

And like the demon of so long ago,

the U-boat vanished to the water below.

Legend passed from frightful lips,

the Kraken of the North Atlantic lives!
