Kiss

A sand paper smile that wears me away

An awkward first meeting proceeding in May

A summer of questions, not all about you

but perhaps more questions than one or just two

A crystal blue sky that devolved into rain

the blue in your eyes that short circuits my brain

A corn field at night on a dusty dirt road

The sounds in the dark of an owl or toad

The old rustic church that you wanted to see

concealed in the woods and surrounded in trees

Adventures and days I will never forget

many mistakes that I'll always regret

Days full of laughter that I'd love to repeat

The feeling of grass and the soil on my feet

I'd run to you now if you gave me the chance

to sing an old song or dance an old dance

to hold you so close I forget to be sad

to remember these moments of fun that we had

but those days are over and you've gone away

I hope in this moment to see you someday

Do you remember that night of drinks and a kiss?

I will always remember; I promise you this.
