The Kindest Chorus

The Kindest Chorus

When a woman walks in
To my Christian, all boys high school
We show them in our fullest that that is what we are
Boys, and not men
They are greeted with a chorus of shouts, proclaiming proudly, "girl!"
And a phalanx of fingers pointing out how that yes, we know they are there
If I could change just one thing
About my Christian, all boys high school
I would make it, so that the women who arrived there
Could peacefully go about their business
Perhaps being greeted instead with shaken hands, and jubilant, "hellos"
Treating them, as the people that they are
Not some spectacle
Or some eye-candy
That just walked through the door
And maybe then I could say
That my school was filled with Men.
