Keep on trying

We are all negative.
Electrons in a sea of metal ions.
We are attracted strongly to the ions,
Yet can never be a part of them,
We are dissociated,
Dissociated cos thats the only way we fit.
We don't belong to anything,
We aren't a part of an atom,
We are noting, no purpose.
No matter how much we try,
We can't associate with the ions,
We can't ever be a part of the positive.
But despite our lack of meaning,
No name, no significance,
We are here, making the world work,
Out actions, our movements,
Electricity down a copper wire.
We don't have purpose,
Yet we still act, react,
Shift, repelle one another.
We still try,
Ultimately our efforts are meaningless,
It may seem the world is better off without you,
One less electron,
One less negative particle,
Leaving behind more positive,
But if the world was all positive,
Electricity won't flow.
We are negative, essential.
And as matter can't be created,
Nor destroyed,
We cannot exist, unless we try.
