Keep Guard

Sat, 06/01/2013 - 17:04 -- Myther

Come home to an empty house
Eat at an empty table
Sleep in an empty bed
but watch your empty heart
for if you do not watch
if you not keep guard
you may one day realize
you left your doors wide open
to your little, empty life
so someone settled in
your heart now holds another
your table is set for two
your bed is no longer cold
your house is now called home
so keep guard
unless you wish to find
the pain and warmth of loving, of living
the joy and anger that they bring
keep watch
keep guard
unless you wish to warm
your fragile human heart
