Just a number

Proverbs 22:1

22 Choose a good reputation over great riches;
    being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold.

What’s in a name?

If I am just a number why do I have a name?

If I am just a creature why do I have a “heart”?

If I am here to slumber why am I wide awake?

If I am the feature why is my play out of date?

If I am the center why is my environment so large?

If I am a puppet than who holds my strings?

If I am a mentor why are no students at my feet?

If I am a trumpet who will play the song in need?

If “I” is a word of the past how could “I” be forgotten?

Maybe insensitive would be sensitive and indifference a lost cause

My life would be so fast in love with the ill-begotten

that maybe the prerogative in submission would endorse
