Just A Friend

Bright red face, tightly clutching my fists

eager to strike a blow like a ghetto kid.

Pockets very slim, family auguring  till the end,

report card arrived, disappointed momma again.

Again and again it’s the same every year,

I try and I try but no one hears.

Until my friend knocks,

I’m swarmed with delight and cheers.

We invade the park, swing the bats

catch  the balls, even kicked the sack.

No fear to dance, we jam to jams ,

share our secrets, we trust no  man.

Let’s watch Netflix and order pizza too,

scoop enough ice cream just for the two.

Laughing and smiling from minutes to seconds,

lifting my heart,  resorting the reverend.

A friend like you,  is wanted  indeed,

everything is awesome,  now I see!
