Juliet's End

"New production!"
The headline read
"See the original star-crossed pair!"
You were the returning legend of the stage,
I, a breakout star
You were there, no matter what
Late nights, you helped me learn my lines
Come time to perform, we'd take the stage
You in blue, I in red
Stumbling across my cues
On the balcony, with you below,
We promised 'till the end
But now...the end is here,
The curtain no one wants to see
And as the velvet falls across the stage,
Pooling, like tears
I turn away,
My icy heart indifferent to your pleading
Because for me, you're not the problem
I'm the problem
My acting isn't up to snuff
This isn't the script for me
So hold auditions, a casting call
To fill the empty role
While I'm walking down the street
With a playbill in my hand
And a new tear in my soul.
