The Joke of Human Immortality

Our fight for immortality on this earth
can be seen in the botching of our faces
All painted disguises to conceal
our aging bodies.
Our imitation of wealth, like the
bourbon kings of the ancien regime
If you can recall our first parents
covering their faces in their hands
The first feeling of shame
that came upon them.

My country
Our world
