For Jimin

Opinion-wise

To each their own

You don’t have to like someone

Your thoughts are yours

And yours alone

But if they can’t please you

If they can’t suit your tastes

Have some manners

Some conscience

Some self control

To not spit those harsh words to their face

Don’t say they’re ugly and that they need to lose weight

When you’re supposed to be a supporter

A friend

Someone who protects them from

The world's crude ignorance and bitter hate

When you know for a fact

They struggle with themselves

Their insecure hearts as fragile

As rickety shelves

And at the end of the day before they sleep

They think about all their imperfections

Their abilities

And their physique

Taking each insult with a smile

That’s quivering, faltering, falling like autumn leaves

As each hurtful word

Cuts them deep

And to think they’ve worked tirelessly

To the point of near death

Practicing over and over

Until they’ve lost all their breath

Only to repeat the same routine

Everyday after that

Without a single thought

About their own health

Ao please people like

you

Who think they aren’t good enough

That they’ll never be good enough

As themselves

So don’t.

Don’t ever.

Take someone’s insecurities

The things that gnaw at their minds endlessly

All through the day and the night,

The things that make them feel worthless

And hopeless

And cause them to lose the flickering light

In their eyes

You don’t know how hard they’ve worked

Or what they’ve given up in their life

Or how much courage it took

For them to leave the ones they love

To pursue their dreams

With all their might

Because you have no right

To tell someone that they'll never

Be good enough as

Themselves

Because they are

And they always will be
