Invisible Presence

I stand in the corners, just out of view,
A fleeting shadow they never knew.
In laughter’s echo, I’m barely a sound,
A silent sigh, lost in the background.

They dance and they dream, their voices collide,
While I’m left wandering, standing outside.
A glimpse of warmth, a touch never met—
The kind of closeness I cannot forget.

I fade in the spaces they never see,
Longing for something I’ll never be.
I exist, yet slip like the day into night,
A ghost in their world, hidden from sight.

I’m a part of their world, yet not really there,
A fragment of dust adrift in the air.
I watch them pass by, so close, so far,
The spaces between us like light from a star.
