Intertwined

Location

You know when you finally find a place you belong?

a home, a place where your heart feels set,

a place that feels safe?

When days are long and exhausting

The comforting idea of this sanctuary keeps you strong enough to keep breathing and moving

That’s what these words on paper are

This pen and this notebook

With empty canvases

Waiting for me to spill ink

and intertwine stories between covers

That’s home.

A shield that let’s words flow freely,

sharing secrets

and thoughts

and love,

Overpowering feelings that become an enemy,

And everything in between.

It’s a home.

My words won’t be stained with scrutiny

Rules won’t restrain the voice inside me.

This truly is,

home.

I’ll grab this black ink pen

and begin a journey,

reminiscing

and learning.

Because when they wouldn’t listen

And I was too much of a coward to speak up and explain

This piece of scrap paper

Let me do it

It let me compose my thoughts, releasing my chains

I yelled,

I cried,

I felt butterflies fluttering at the pit of my stomach because of the power of this paper,

I was flying with it’s power, exploring without boundaries a world that retains beauty in the most overlooked crevices

These words helped me discover worlds,

Helped me discover myself.
