Insecurity

Thu, 04/30/2020 - 00:18 -- Jamaine

Almost everyone has something that they don’t like about themselves.

It could be something small like the way they laugh.

Or it could be something huge like the way they look.

Whatever it is, it has a significant effect on that person’s self-esteem.

Like a leech, it drains them of their happiness and instills fear.

Fear that everyone is judging them.

Fear that this thing that bothers them won’t go away.

Fear that they just aren’t good enough.

No matter how beautiful they may appear to you, it’s pointless if they don’t believe it themselves.

What you have to understand is that they’ve been burdened by this for awhile now.

A simple pep talk won’t cure them of this feeling of helplessness.

Only slowly accepting what they view as a flaw can enable them to see what you see.

Like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly, it’s a slow but beautiful process when they accept themselves.

You just have to be that small but important reminder that they’re great just the way they are.

Because the day they accept themselves, they’ll remember you accepted them first.

They’ll remember those times when you said they were beautiful when they thought they were ugly.

They’ll remember those times when you never judged them for being who they are.

They’ll remember those times when you stayed by their side when they thought they were alone.

So no matter how big the insecurity is, be there for that person and go with them on their self-love journey.
