insecure

Insecure
Your beauty shines upon the town,
And I follow behind looking like a clown,
Men come up to you and engulf you,
I struggle behind them trying to get through,
I don’t know why I thought I had a chance,
When you can’t even see me when you glance,
Waiting for the second when they finally leave,
You try to convince me but I just don’t believe,
The reasons you say you’re with me,
Have still yet to be seen.

Making the first line of this poem just one word is very powerful, because it tells the reader right away what you will be writing about, but then you use the other lines to expand on that idea and really get into the heart of the story. Nice!
