Inner-self

Psalm 51:6 New English Translation (NET Bible)

6 Look, you desire integrity in the inner man;

you want me to possess wisdom.

Inner-self

It has been more than a year ago

That my pen tried to remember words

To scratch down on a piece of paper

To release the pressure of the inner-man

Somehow words don’t want to flow

And even thoughts cannot be hurled

Ideas are crisscrossing like a rising vapor

To disappear into thin air as they began

Inspiration can’t be bought and bottled

Though some think it just happens just like that

As they empty themselves into all they can get

To catch and invite self in destruction’s call

It seems impossible for feelings now to settle

To the addicted to self and their chosen fads

As excuses and emotions in their mind-set fed

By relentless hunger for recognition after all

Knifing thoughts and craving bones

Drive them in direct propitious ways

Where lust resides in restless minds

As day and night relentless gnaw away

At guilt and grief being home alone

In total despair with some mire’s pay

Consisting of one’s struggles and grind

Until all willpower has gone astray
