indescribable

 Indescribable

A feeling of  unbelonging

Masked  with a blissful smile.

A knowing, deep within the heart.

OUTSIDER they scream

All in unison

OUTSIDER

They yell, ringing her ears.

She smiles blissfully

As if  she couldn’t hear

OUTSIDER

They do not stop

OUTSIDER

They continue to shout

Her face grows hard

And her eyes turn glassy

“OUTSIDER”

She turns her head but in every direction she beholds outstretched mouths

“OUTSIDER” “OUTSIDER” “OUTSIDER” “OUTSIDER”

They look as if their breath reeks

Nonetheless it is not her nose bleeding, but her ears.

“OUTSIDER”

She wonders when they would quite yelling

Her mouth hurts from holding a smile

“OUTSIDER”

She does the one thing they have been begging her to do using only one word.

She leaves.

She is no longer a outsider, but outside she stands

Her unnerving smile drops

Her face turns cold

She now feels

That holding a painful smile for hours

Was much better than being alone.

Yes she was outside

But here

She was no outsider.
