I'm Still a Kid

I'm still a kid.
I like to eat way too much candy
and I like to drink way too much caffeine
and I like to stay up late watching cartoons and Disney movies
about princes and princesses and love at first sight.
I like to believe in fairy tales
and I like to sing stupid and silly songs about breakups and heartbreak
and I like to pretend that I'm way too innocent to understand any of it.
I like to watch musicals about kids
with telekinetic powers and I like to read stories
about little girls who beat the odds and came out on top.
I like to pretend I'm not almost an adult,
because adults can't like these things
and adults aren't allowed to dream.
So I'm still a kid,
and hopefully, I always will be.
