I'm Not Stupid

I’m not as dumb as you think I am; I’m much more multifaceted, although one never could tell just by looking at me. You judge me solely on the excitable exterior I wear. Perhaps I don’t speak up often in class. Eloquent phrases don’t usually spring from my lips, but all alone I might just be a genius. I remember useless things, and recite full books of poetry. I have a hidden weapon, but it serves also as my downfall. Perhaps I’m a titch stupid on occasion, but so is everyone. No, nothing’s wrong with me… why do you ask? I’ve never been a valedictorian. I’ll never get a scholarship or win a spelling bee. Perhaps I am truly stupid, but then again, perhaps I’m just a timid clever girl, who needs to act this way. I’m not nearly as dumb as you think I am!

Thanks for sharing this great poem. There's an honesty that sings in these few words

and speaks to me: "I have a hidden weapon, but it serves also as my downfall". Here is the gift of an artist.
