Illuminating Words

Sat, 08/10/2013 - 19:43 -- asbland

A young girl sits alone in a quiet room,

She thinks and wonders and dreams,

Her mind like an overflowing tomb,

Is there a way to silence this ever flowing stream?

She looks around and spots a lined paper sheet,

As she puts pencil to paper the words flow,

Impossible to tear herself away, impossible to sleep,

The dullness in her life melted away and her eyes began to glow.

As days turned into weeks and weeks turned into years,

Poetry illuminated her life,

She no longer had reason to fear,

Out her window flew hate and strife.
