IGNORANT HARLEQUIN

You once swam through waters deep,

Caressing with a tender heart.

What happened to your loving wave?

When did your hatred start?

Been looking for you somewhere out there,

Been searching for that sacred shore.

In that place unknown, unseen,

In waking hours, within a dream.

Thought I saw a shadow face,

Moving through my secret place.

Turned around to catch a peek,

Still spinning as the voices speak.

Laughter loudly taunts and turns,

Echos of thoughtless concern.

Twisting every fact around,

Solo silence inside the sound.

Distant mocking word delight,

Fighting through my days in spite.

Spirits shift inside my thoughts,

The lesson’s shout out what’s forgot.

I remember repeating demi-phrases,

Ignorant harlequin’s I chase through mazes.
