If she, If he

If she had lived,

She would have gone far.

If she had lived,

She would have been a star.

Her soul was so brightly lit,

No other could outshine her for a bit.

If she had lived,

She would have had her voice heard.

If she had lived,

She would have changed the world.

Her heart was so precious and innocent,

No other could ever compare.

But now she ceases to exist,

Do to the fact that he could not resist,

He could not sober up,

He could not stop,

She tried her hardest to make him change,

Only to be rearranged,

It was on a stormy winter's night,

When her soul left without a sight,

He was under the influence of the drink,

He never once stopped to think,

The speeding vehicle hanged left into the darkness,

She flew face first into the abyss,

He awoke three weeks later,

Hooked up to a ventilator,

Her name popped into his head,

His soul was filled with dread,

As the report was read.

"If only I had listened to her pleading cries. If only I had listened." were his only words,

His one and only daughter would he now yearn for,

His one and only daughter would he now grieve for.

If he had put down the bottle,

She would have been alive,

If he had put done the bottle,

She would have survived.
