If it were my birthday

If it were my birthday - by me

I know I wasn’t invited.

I know I wasn’t there.

But I wish you a happy birthday,

And I hope there was no despair.

If it were my birthday

You would’ve been invited

I don’t know if you would be there

But my wish before I blew the candles out

Would be that you were.

If it were my birthday

I wouldn’t wanna see you cry

Instead I would hold you in my arms

Just one more time.

If it were my birthday

I’d hoped you show your face

You’ve been incognito these past few months

And it really makes me break.

If it were my birthday

I’d wish for my wish to be fulfilled

I’d hold you in my arms

And forget that I popped pills.

If it were my birthday

I’d grab you by your arm

And take you to my room

We’d talk and laugh for hours

Until my alarm goes off

And I’d say “I knew it was too good to be true.”

If it were my birthday

I’d only want you to be there

But you ran away

and I want you back here.

Happy birthday.
