If this Country Isn't Great
If this country isn't great today
It is only cause we made it that way.
This country has the recipe for greatness-
Freedom. Rights. Religion.
All of these were hard-won
And are more than enough to get things done.
But it's the citizens' responsibility to keep
Things correct in our nation.
However, being uninformed for generations,
Our complacent and disenchanted citizens
Have neglected their civil dividends.
How can we expect anyone or anything to be great
If we don't treat it like it is that way?
Complaining won't make the problems go away.
So you can rant and rave, slash and slam
But that won't change a thing-
Only action can.

I agree with this poem so much. And well written too! You keep a consistent rhyme scheme without stopping the smoothness of your words to get it done. Good job! You're absolutely right it's our fault that this country is declining. It's the morality and the action of the people that changes anything. For some reason, the majority of America has this idea that the bureacrats are the only ones who can do anything, but the government is founded on the people. We have more freedoms than any country in the world, but people forget rights mean responsibilites. I'm glad you see this. Thank you.
