If (Blue Eyed Lenny pt. 2)

If she had arrived but a moment more early,

If she had realized a minute more soon,

Perhaps she could have saved her friend

From his own self-brought doom.

If she had told him more often she cared,

If she had listened a little bit more,

Perhaps she wouldn’t have seen him stone dead

When she burst in through his door.

If she had taken him seriously,

If she had never brushed off his thoughts,

Perhaps he wouldn’t have given up life,

The fight he still could have fought.

Everyone knew it wasn’t really her fault,

She couldn’t soak up all the sadness he held,

But the feeling of guilt ate her up inside,

And so by her own hand she fell.
