I watched the rain fallPoundingPoundingPounding

I watched the rain fall

Pounding

Pounding

Pounding against the pavement

Falling in waves

Strong and heavy

Then soft and gentle

Each drop melodized with another

A perfect harmony

I watched the rain fall

And thought of us

Hearts pounding

Pounding

Pounding against our chests

We loved in waves

Deep and wholly

Then surely and intimate

Each beat syncronized

Harmonizing in perfect pitch

I watched the sun appear

Out from behind the clouds

And watched the rain drops slowly

Slowly

Slowly dry up into nothingness

And I should have known

Oh what a fool was I

I should have known

We would quickly

Quickly

Quickly become just as barren and dry

As the pavement

When our sun comes along
