I Still Can't Say No

I liked making you happy

And I knew you were happy when I did as you say

So that is what I did

You said you did not like to hold hands

So I stopped holding your hand

Even when it was the only thing I want to do

You said you didn’t want me to wear heels because I would be too tall

So I never wore heels

Even if I loved the way I looked in them

You told me not to hold my friend’s hand

So I stopped holding their hand

Even if it was the only thing that helped with my anxiety

You told me to make you feel good

So I did

Even when I really didn’t want to

You told me to take a joke

So I laughed

Even if I didn’t think being called a whore was funny

You didn’t like it when I said no

So I stopped saying no
