I should have seen (Stop the Bullying)

I feel powerless in the face of his pain

My baby brother brought down to his knees

Tears running down his face

But he wears a mask of stone

Trying to be the strong man

He’s too young to think he has to be

I didn’t see the signs before it was too late

I was blind and deaf

To the jeers and insults that made up his day

The bullying that followed him home

Now I’m forced to see

The silent “help me”

His eyes will haunt my dreams

I can’t believe I was so oblivious

My brother was dying inside

And I couldn’t see!

Please understand

If I had known

This would’ve stopped

Before it ever truly began

I take full responsibility

I hope there’s still time

To undo the damage they’ve wrought

If it’s too late

It’s everyone’s fault

We all should’ve seen

We should all have stepped in

We need to stop this

From ever happening again
