I Remember

I remember when you were a boy,
A blustery mix of dirt and toys,
A young lad with a stallions heart,
Bikes and ramps and skateboard parts
A cowboy strapped with 45s,
Superman so you could fly,
Soldiers fighting in a war,
Lined up neatly on the floor,
Now you're grown and you can see,
Things aren't always, what they seem to be
Dreams can die and hope is fleeting
Sometimes you can't stop the bleeding,
Just thank God your hearts still beating, keep the faith, stay in the race . . . run to win.
