I live on the edge of town
I live on the edge of town
I live on the edge of town,
Where green fields meet the dark deep woods,
And sparrows sing all day,
I sit betrothed to the swaying fields,
My thoughts never sway.
When springtime brings the scent of blooms
And mid-noon breeze is bliss,
The tranquil rays hug every twig
And leave with a gentle kiss.
Clouds hang low on brooding trees
As evening lurks around,
And curtain falls on a pensive day,
All birds are homeward bound.
As darkness flows with a silent hush,
A peaceful day is gone,
I close my eyes for another day,
With thoughts of a nascent morn.
