I Have A Dream
I have a dream
Where a white woman beats her black husband in a house with thin walls
While their polka dotted child pretends to sleep in the next room
And the boy sings through his tears
"All we need is love, do do do do doo"
I have a dream
Where a nameless man in a room full of flashing lights stares at a screen
He inputs a series of commands
And lets out a rebel yell as his finger descends toward the final key
Millions of miles away an entire city stands in silence
As the bomb descends on them, all but hearing that rebel yell
Then a single voice cuts through and reaches out to their ears,
Singing
"All we need is love, do do do do doo, All we need is LOVE, do do do do doo"
I have a dream
Where I hear people all around me screaming "Hail ze fuhrer!"
I open my eyes to see a nation of faceless robots
With the words "MONEY IS POWER" tattooed on all of their chests
They march off to wage war on a country called terrorism
And as I get swept away I sing
"All we need is love, do do do do doo, all we need is love, do do do do doo,
All we need is love.... love"
I have a dream
Where a polka dotted boy comes home every day
To a screaming house with thin walls
He goes straight to his room and stays up late
In the hopes that it will come that night
Suddenly he hears it, sweet silence
He sings to himself
"All we need is love, do do do do doo, all we need is love, do do do do doo
All we need is love, love. Love is all we need."
And that single moment will sustain his hope for months to come
Because for a polka dotted child in a house with thin wall, silence is the sound of
love
