I Have

Ive got hatred in my heart

And a spark in my eye

That burns my tears.

Ive got hatred in my lungs

That flickers when I draw in a breath.

It stings my lungs and clouds my voice

And my thoughts.

Ive got hatred in my mind

That twists and crackles

When I think of you.

But I’ve got apathy in my fingertips

That plays with a sharp bead.

I have a handful of rose petals

And a mouthful of cotton.

Because when I don’t think of you,

When I think of starlight on my collar

The fire fades

And I’m left warm.
