I Greet Day Because She Greet Me

Wed, 10/19/2016 - 22:17 -- mmeli

Why

do I proceed

to drag my long

limbs out of bed each

morning? Why do I incessantly

open my window in hopes of the childlike

wonder I miss in seeing the sky? Why do I look

at the sun and wish for warmth to spread through me?

Why do I continue to try?

I

look forward

to the happiness in my

sister’s eyes when she sees

that I am awake yet again. There’s a

comfort I receive from knowing that the sky

has not given up on me. The sun has always been my

friend and she makes me laugh when I wish to cry. I know

that everything goes back into everything because mornings come after nights.

I

greet The Day

to tell her that she is kind

and patient. I greet The Day

because like her sister Mother Nature,

The Day knows that while I take her for granted

at times, I love her so much that I cannot imagine life

without her. I greet The Day so that the symbiosis between the

two of us becomes more of a commensalism rather than parasitism.

I greet The Day because The Day greets me and my mother taught me my manners.
